Does your air conditioner work fine in the morning, but cannot keep up in the afternoon and evening?
This could be caused by a number of problems; low on Freon, dirty condenser coil or maybe you are pulling attic air in thru your return air duct. We are seeing more and more leaks as homes grow older and the summers seem warmer.
The first two causes are easy for us to check quickly and we always do. But the last one requires some in-depth investigation of your home’s AC duct work.
What many homeowners don’t realize is that their ductwork could easily be leaking. In the morning when the attic air temperature is 80 degrees it is easy to keep air cool. But in the afternoon here in Bryan and College Station many homes will have a 120 degree plus air temperature and your AC system might not be able to cope with the increased afternoon attic area temperatures.
Imagine, if your system is pulling in attic air at 120 degrees, it mixes and raises the temperature of the air you are trying to cool. Consider how much extra electricity you are using and paying for, plus the unnecessary additional wear on your AC system?
We can find and seal these costly leaks using a special safe, non-toxic, no-odor “smoke pencil” while we also check the other parts of your AC system including Freon, coils and electric controls.
